5 Summer Activities for Your Mental Wellness
Summer is a great time to try new hobbies and activities, and many communities offer a wide range of low-cost or even free activities you can participate in.
Trying new activities is a great way to boost your well-being and health. New activities can potentially be a place for you to meet new friends and peers.
By meeting new people, you might meet someone who is from a similar situation, has similar goals in mind or just someone that can help hold you accountable in your growth.
Join your local public library
Joining the local public library is generally free with the proof of residency in the county the library is in.
The library offers a variety of resources. Local libraries have free wifi and offer public computers. You can rent books, CDs, movies and some libraries offer board games, and other things for rental. Libraries are often a hub for community resources and may lead you to other opportunities.
Go on a walk
Walking around your neighborhood is a free way to get exercise and clear your mind. Walking is an easy and healthy way to set intentions, say some positive affirmations to yourself and clear your mental space.
You can walk as far or as little as you need, and you can listen to music you enjoy. Some people prefer to walk with friends or a small group, and that is another great way to keep positive relationships and hold yourself accountable.
Do some art or a craft
Art is a great way of self-expression. You can do art with things you have laying around. Many forms of art can be done with recycled or reused materials. You can utilize recycled materials you are going throw out, or upcycle something you already have that needs a new life.
This not only can make you feel great inside, but it will also make your space feel better too.
Get rid of old things
Getting rid of things you no longer use or enjoy can be a really good way to uplift your mood and clear your space. Decluttering things that don’t have purpose to you anymore can clear your space for current and future things that you enjoy.
You can offer these things to friends or family that may get use out of them or donate them to a local donation bin for other people who may need them.
Utilize your local free days
Many towns and cities offer free days for the local community to enjoy the pool, zoo, parks and museums. These are often pre-planned dates and open to the public.
Utilizing these free days can allow you to enjoy things you may not usually be able to fit into your budget. Attending free days may be another great way to make friends within your community — that you can tag along with to future local events.
