Michiana Behavioral Health’s Acute Adolescent Inpatient Program treats acute behavioral, psychiatric and emotional issues in teens ages 13 to 17. Patients may be experiencing problems with mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, aggression or anger problems, but may also be exhibiting violent or reactive behavior that is self-destructive or harmful to others. Our program seeks to stabilize the most acute symptoms, while also providing them with coping skills that will help them manage stressors and triggers in ways that help them have better outcomes at home and school. We provide adolescents and families with the help they need for handling emotional pain, serious life problems, developmental struggles and behavioral issues. Our treatment team works with families to construct an individualized treatment plan that focuses on the needs of each patient, targeting their most pressing needs while also ensuring that the patient has the right network for proper aftercare.

Program highlights include:

  • Initial assessment to help identify and treat behavioral issues
  • Individualized mental health treatment, with age-specific protocols to meet patient needs
  • A treatment team that includes psychiatrists, registered nurses and therapists
  • Evidence-based programming including elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Daily programming, including activity and group therapy
  • Group Psychotherapy to encourage honest evaluation of behavioral issues and positive coping mechanisms
